Privacy Policy
Where's Brado is a personal location diary for iPhone. It is built so that your location history belongs to you and stays on your phone. This page explains exactly what the app does with data, and separately what this website does.
1. The app: what it collects
With your explicit permission, the app records your location in the background at roughly hourly resolution. It then groups those points into "visits" (places you were, and when), so you can later ask things like "where was I on a given date and time?"
Location recording only happens after you grant iOS location permission. You can change or revoke that permission at any time in the iPhone Settings app, and the app stops recording.
2. Where the data lives
- All location data is stored in a database on your device.
- It is never uploaded to us or anyone else, never sent to a server, never shared, and never sold.
- There is no account, no sign-in, and no backend. We do not operate any server that receives data from the app.
- The app contains no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking SDKs.
Because of this, we (Terra Virgo Corporation) do not have access to your location history and cannot see it, recover it, or hand it to anyone.
3. The one network request the app makes
To turn raw coordinates into readable place names (for example, "Fairfax, CA"), the app uses Apple's reverse-geocoding service (part of Core Location on iOS). This means coordinates are sent to Apple for lookup, subject to Apple's privacy policy. This is the only network communication the app performs. The app makes no other network calls.
4. Your control: export and delete
- You can export all of your data at any time from the app's Settings screen.
- You can delete all of your data at any time from the app's Settings screen.
- Deleting the app from your phone deletes its database and all of the data in it.
If you use iCloud device backup, your phone may include the app's database in that backup along with your other app data. That is governed by your own iOS backup settings and Apple's policies, not by us.
5. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any information from anyone, children included, because the app does not send data to us.
6. This website (wheresbrado.com)
This website is a static site. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. We do not collect any information about visitors.
However, in order to display the map on the home page, your browser loads resources from third parties, and those third parties receive your IP address and standard browser request information as part of serving the files:
- Map tiles are loaded from CARTO's basemap servers (
basemaps.cartocdn.com), which render map imagery from OpenStreetMap data. CARTO's tile servers receive your IP address when tiles are fetched. If we switch to OpenStreetMap's own tile servers in future, the same applies to OpenStreetMap. - The Leaflet map library is loaded from the unpkg CDN (
unpkg.com). - The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, so GitHub's servers receive the request for each page.
- If a map pin includes a photo, that image is loaded from wherever it is hosted when you open the pin's popup.
The Privacy and Support pages do not load the map and only involve the hosting provider.
7. Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date.
